Zephyrs win World Series.

By Daniel Bowman

The Zerbe Zephrys got off to a slow start this season. Team management decided it was time to bring in one of the best wiffle ball managers out there and struck gold with JP Phillips. JP quickly got the team going in the right direction by making some roster changes. JP worked his magic and the team started climbing in the standings. It helped the team had this year’s Cy Young award winner Adrian “Tiny” Bordner on hill regularly. Adrian had an awesome season both on the mound and at the plate. The writers at the T-Town Gazette took notice and unanimously voted Adrian the MVP of the league. JP did not always have it easy due to Adam Renn being in a contract dispute over his shoe contract. There were a few games that Adam protested by going bare footed on the mound, but eventually Adam got paid. There were also other key contributors to the team. Steve Renn was hitting bombs and opposing teams were scared to pitch to him. At times he was getting the Barry Bonds treatment with intentional walks. The Zehphrys also picked the one-time base stealing threat of Adam Straub in a mid-season trade. He was the final piece to get them to the playoffs and to the T-Town Wiffle Ball Championship game. It also helped that the Zephrys have one of the best minor league systems and brought up numerous rookies that gained valuable experience during the season. These rookies showed a lot of promise and have the Zephrys thinking about a dynasty.

As the season went on the Zephrys kept climbing in the standings and eventually were the regular season champs. The team stayed hot in the playoffs and made it to the T-Town Wiffle Ball Championship to face a tough opponent. Willy’s Wackjobs got hot at the end of the season and were a surprise opponent. Willy’s Wackjobs had a stud pitcher of their own in Robert Wolfe. The team also had wiffle ball legends Paul Kolody and Shawn Hine that could easily get hot at any time to lead their team to victory. This was supposed to be Willie Adam’s farewell tour, but an early season injury kept him out most of the year. Even without Willie this team showed a lot of heart. The Zephrys stayed focused led by their veteran players and swept the Wackjobs to pick up their first T-Town Wiffle Ball Championship.
