Black Team wins Mid-Summer Classic

By Daniel Bowman

The Mid-Summer Classic was not short on talent. Two teams assembled of All-Stars battled it out at the “Mini Bank”. The crowd gathered knowing that this was some of the best talent to play in Trevorton. There were some players that were selected by the fans for the game, but due to injury or family commitments they could not attend. This gave some other players to get to play in the game. Both teams were led by the pitching of Kasey Yeager and Adrian “Tiny” Bordner. The first inning both pitchers came out throwing bullets and the opposing team struggled to put the ball in play. The second inning fireworks started happening as some new pitchers took the hill. The offense kicked in for both teams as the Red team managed to get some runners on base and put a scare into the Black team. Unfortunately, no runs were scored in the Top of the second inning. The bottom of the second inning the Black team broke open the scoring. After a walk Dan Bowman came through with a hit after being down to his last strike. That put runners on first and second base. The next batter was walked to load the bases. Up to the plate steps the field creator Kurt “The Hammer” Klinger. The crowd rose to their feet knowing this was a special moment. Kurt delivered a “Grand Slam” to put the Black team up 4-0. The Red team did not score in the Top of the third inning giving the Black team the victory. Kasey Yeager picked up the win and Kurt Klinger was voted the MVP by the sports reporters.
